			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is held each year in Durham, North Carolina. The festival began in 1998 and initially was attended by only a few hundred patrons. The festival has since grown, and now features over 100 documentaries from around the world. This four day festival in the spring is held within a single block in historic Durham, North Carolina creating an intimate background for the celebration of this Non-fiction Theater. The festival also features numerous question and answer sessions, seminars, and discussion panels with expert film makers, giving both experienced and new film makers a unique educational experience.</p>
<p><strong>2010 Festival</strong></p>
<p>The 13th annual Full Frame Documentary Film Festival will be held April 8 – 11, 2010 in Durham, North Carolina. Entries should be submitted for consideration by October 15, 2009, with late entry by November 30, 2009. Any short or feature documentary completed after January 1, 2008 is eligible for entry.</p>

<p>The Festival has received support from industry as well as within the film making community. The festival is produced by the non profit organization, Doc Arts, Inc. and receives numerous corporate sponsorships, such as the New York Times and HBO. The festival has been well represented by the film making community over the years with numerous celebrities in attendance. In years past such names as Martin Scorsese, Danny DeVito, Sydney Pollack, and Morgan Spurlock have attended the festival.</p>
<p><strong>Promoting Film Making</strong></p>
<p>The mission of the Full Frame Film Festival is to support documentary film making and the film making community. This is achieved by not only showcasing the work of prominent and emerging film makers at the festival each year, but also by working to preserve this art form through archival and other preservation methods. The festival continues to reach out to the international documentary film making community, trying to build a wider audience both nationally and internationally to raise the awareness of this art form.</p>
<p><strong>Year-Round Programming</strong></p>
<p>Programs are held throughout the year by the Full Frame Festival at venues around Durham and elsewhere, to help promote documentary films and film making. These programs include showings of classic documentaries as well as educational programs for experienced and new documentary film makers alike.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong></strong>The Hot Springs Film Festival began in 1992 by local Hot Springs Residents interested in enhancing the arts in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There were 10 Academy Award nominated documentary films screened free of charge to the public, in that first year. Now entering its 18th year, the festival has grown to become the largest documentary film festival in the United States and second only to Amsterdam internationally.<br />

The 2009 festival will be held from October 16 – 25, and will feature 139 documentaries selected from nearly 1000 entries. About 22,000 people are expected to attend this 10 day festival, which includes film screenings as well as documentary workshops. The cost of a festival pass, good for access to all screenings is $150, or you can purchase a day pass for $20, or a three day pass for $50.<br />
The main theme for this year’s festival is the environment and sustainability, and many of the documentaries relate to this subject. Other prominent topics are the Social Sciences and the Arts.<br />
One of the more talked about documentaries in the arts is Ron English’s Abraham Obama. This documentary chronicles Ron English’s journey across America spreading his street art, of a merging of Abraham Lincoln and Obama, with a crew of artists and musicians. Ron English will be at the festival to discuss the film and the journey.<br />
There will be many filmmakers present at the festival which includes multiple world premiers. The opening night premier of “Coming Back for More” will kick off the festival with a bang. Sly Stone, of “Sly and the Family Stone” will attend the screenings of this movie that was made about him. There have even been rumors of a performance.<br />
<strong>Promoting the Arts in Arkansas</strong><br />
One of the main purposes of the Hot Springs Film Festival is to promote the arts, and particularly film making within the state of Arkansas. Part of their mission is to promote the younger film makers and encourage them to work in their profession within the state of Arkansas. Besides screenings of films by younger film makers, there are also numerous workshops to help budding film makers enhance their skills. Sponsored by the University of Central Arkansas’ film department these workshops are free to the public, simply pre-register with the film institute.</p>
